![]() ![]() Typical CHUG construction (light weight, etc) but very nice overall design and playability factor. Bad-ass ninja weapon versions with awesome style, colors, and presence. I would trade the BC bugs for the FT bugs if the opportunity presents itself via re-issued products from FT. But why they marred their Reformatted line with these when Ocular Max already had a hit-or-miss reputation and was the correct line for their G1 figures, is anyone's guess.įansproject: The most fun option. I went with Badcube Insecticons and FansToys Reflector and am generally happy with them. They even dumped this G1 set out of their Ocular Max G1 line and into their IDW Reformatted line, likely because they knew it was sub-par. A very over-priced set with some very disappointing shortcomings, especially for being the most recent entrants into the bug world. off in scale perhaps? I don't recall whether the more expensive set has any diecast but the ones I have are the Evil Bug Corps value pack and they look pretty good but lack the heft and paint of FT. Overally good quality, light-weight materials make them seem less substantial but their overall quality is good. The release of Star Wars had sparked a boom in action figures and merchandise in the late 70s and early 80s, and companies including Mattel and Hasbro adopted a similar approach to selling toys in. These just barely qualify as masterpiece. Two versions here, and both are kind of over-priced for what you get unless you buy them during a Black Friday or holiday sale. I never picked these up but if they re-issue and drop the price, I'll probably replace my Badcube set with these one day.īadcube: The mid-range option. Two of them got reissues but the third has not. Plenty more 3rd party on the way, so subscribe its easy and free :) This is a review of Fanstoys Spotter. The most expensive to acquire, most solid feel in-hand, but a couple fragility issues (though I recall replacement parts were eventually provided?). Maybe Fanstoys should bring back the Perfect Fusion line to do an alternative cab-only Motormaster that is smaller, more toon accurate, and lightweight, which would still combine with the Fanstoys Menasor trailer. According to their website the figures are 16cm tall, consist of Rangefinder, Monocular and Analyzer, and are schedule for a July release date. Menasors shoulder pillars would automatically be the right color. This time we have the Visualizors team, a Masterpiece styled Reflector. For Powerglide, I have no horse in this fight. If I collected S2 autobots, I would go with FT, as it fits my collection better, but it is a personal choice as to what fits the aesthetic of your collection best. I'd say the door's still open for DX9 or KFC to come along and do a set that's better than any of the current options outside of Fanstoys, but do it at a lower price than FT.įans Toys: The baller set. Maketoys has updated their website with the announcement of another installment in their Re:Master series. Until the majority of 3p figures are actually enjoyable to transform, and intuitive in the way TTS offerings are( generally speaking, exceptions are present ), they will always get marked down in my eyes. If you like the more 'heroic' build (puffed out chest and smaller head to emphasize the upper body bulk), then Fanstoys has you covered. As others have noted, none are without their flaws. ![]()
